BitMEX Crypto : BMEX Token Crashes 96.7% After Exchange Shutdown Announcement

BitMEX announced it will permanently shut down its crypto exchange on September 23, 2026, after stopping new account registrations. From August 26, the platform will begin reducing risk limits, with users required to close positions and withdraw funds before the closure. Following the announcement, the BMEX token plunged 96.7% to around $0.002. The sharp decline came as the token lost its core utility, including trading fee discounts, staking rewards, and other exchange-linked benefits.
