Why Cardano Price Is Rising Today

Story Highlights
  • Cardano price climbed above $0.20 after whales accumulated 240 million ADA and futures trading activity surged 380% in one week.

  • The Dijkstra era roadmap, community-funded development model, and new Cosmos connectivity have strengthened ADA’s long-term narrative.

  • All eyes are on August 9 ETF eligibility milestone, while technical analysts see a breakout above $0.23.

Cardano price today climbed above the $0.19 resistance level, gaining more than 6.34% over the past 24 hours. The move comes as several factors support sentiment, including whale accumulation, growing institutional interest, governance upgrades, and higher derivatives activity.

Whale Buying and ETF Narrative Fuel the Rally

One of the main drivers behind Cardano’s recent rally is increased market participation.

According to Santiment, whale wallets accumulated about 240 million ADA in recent days. Meanwhile, on-chain analyst Ali Martinez said ADA futures trading volume surged 380% over the past week, rising from about $150 million to nearly $650 million.

Institutional attention is also increasing ahead of Aug. 9, when Cardano’s CME futures will complete the required six-month trading history following their February launch.

At the same time, investors continue to watch pending spot Cardano ETF applications as the Oct. 23 SEC decision deadline approaches.

Cardano has also entered its Dijkstra development era after the community approved a governance roadmap that allows the network to fund core development directly from its treasury. The model gives the ecosystem greater control over long-term development.

Network Growth Continues Despite DeFi Challenges

Cardano has expanded its ecosystem through a 2.5 million ADA development fund and an Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) testnet bridge connecting the network with Injective and the broader Cosmos ecosystem.

The initiatives aim to improve interoperability and expand Cardano’s use cases. However, decentralized finance activity remains limited.

According to DeFiLlama, Cardano’s total value locked (TVL) fell 1.7% over the past day to $68.17 million, with stablecoins accounting for more than $64 million.

The network remains well behind Ethereum’s $41.3 billion TVL and Solana’s $4.78 billion.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently highlighted the Cardano PRIME initiative, which aims to increase qualifying TVL from about $90 million to more than $290 million over the next year by expanding the ecosystem rather than competing directly with other blockchains.

Cardano Price Analysis

Technically, ADA has broken above the $0.20 resistance that capped every recovery attempt this year. One analyst recently said that the next major resistance sits between $0.21 and $0.22, followed by the 200-day moving average near $0.23. He added that a strong move above this range could signal a broader breakout for Cardano and potentially improve sentiment across the altcoin market.

For now, Cardano’s rally is being supported by stronger fundamentals, whale accumulation, governance upgrades, growing derivatives activity, and the approaching ETF milestone. The next few sessions could determine whether ADA extends its recovery or faces another round of profit-taking.
