Binance Hack News Today: Tether And Circle Freeze Stolen Funds As Losses Hit $5.7 Billion

Binance has confirmed a major security breach after attackers sent unauthorised withdrawals worth roughly $5.7 billion across the Bitcoin, Ethereum and TRON networks. The exchange said early findings point to a hacked laptop belonging to a DevOps engineer, which gave the attacker access to a service container used to submit withdrawals. Binance said it has found no sign that wallet private keys were exposed. Losses include about $1.45 billion in Bitcoin and $875 million in Ether, according to The Kobeissi Letter. If confirmed, it would be the largest crypto hack on record, far above Bybit’s $1.5 billion loss in February 2025. Tether and Circle have frozen part of the stolen stablecoins. Co-founder Changpeng Zhao said user funds are safe and that he expects all losses to be covered. Bitcoin slipped below $78,500.
