FOMO Mounts as TapSwap Nears Airdrop

Clicker games took Web3 by storm, with their airdrops becoming some of the most anticipated events in the industry. TapSwap, one of the top-performing games on TON, is to release its TAPS token by the end of Q3 2024 โ€” and as the TGE approaches, users wonder when the token will go live and strive to make sure they make the most of it. Hereโ€™s what you need to know about the TapSwap airdrop and the projectโ€™s further steps.

Why No Airdrop Yet?

TapSwap emerged in February 2024, at a time when it was already clear that clicker games had become the new crypto industryโ€™s growth driver. In just six months, the project amassed 67 million users, 18 million of whom enter the game daily, and received an endorsement from Pavel Durov.

Unprecedented traction has created exceptional challenges for all clicker games, including TapSwap. Projects of this kind are built on the airdrop model: users complete tasks and earn in-game coins, intending to exchange them for project tokens once they are released. Although this approach is not new, the sheer number of users forces clicker games to run airdrops on a fundamentally different scale. For example, TapSwapโ€™s 67 million is somewhere close to the population of France โ€” or roughly 0.8% of all people living on Earth.

To calculate how many tokens each user will receive, the project must sum up a multitude of factors. The amount of in-game currency earned is not the only criterion: the frequency of app check-ins, the number of referrals, and many other actions also contribute.

When multiplied by all users eligible for the airdrop, it becomes a daunting task to get things right and satisfy millions of players. This is why running the Token Generation Event (TGE) often takes longer than the community expects. For example, Hamster Kombat, which initially announced its airdrop for July, hadn’t released the token by mid-August. TapSwap, which has never publicly disclosed the exact month of the airdrop, has made it clear that the TGE will take place in Q3, which includes August and September.

Usersโ€™ desire to receive their tokens as quickly as possible is understandable. However, the industry knows many examples of rushed airdrops that were unsuccessful and left players even more disappointed. When a project doesn’t take enough time to carefully design its tokenomics, there will inevitably be users who didnโ€™t receive a sufficient reward for their efforts.

Utility in Focus

According to the information TapSwap shared in a recent AMA, the projectโ€™s tokenomics is nearly complete, and the game is currently in talks with multiple exchanges and platforms.

โ€œWe actively communicate with Tier-1 exchanges and have received positive feedback on their collaboration. Once finalized, we will update you on these efforts,โ€ the teamโ€™s message states. โ€œA significant portion of all tokens will definitely be allocated to the community,โ€ โ€” adds TapSwap.

Another component of a successful airdrop is the token’s price after the TGE. Crypto history suggests that sustaining the price is impossible without ensuring the projectโ€™s tangible value and long-term utility. This is why Hamster Kombat and Notcoin have already announced developing dedicated ecosystems, while TapSwap has declared its intention to venture into the SocialFi and AI fields, as well as launch a quest platform to help other Web3 projects scale.

โ€œWe plan to launch an interactive platform with a user-friendly interface to grow the community and market,โ€ โ€” project representatives stated. โ€œThis platform will help build communities for Web3 projects and facilitate networking, marketing, and user-generated content. We believe TapSwap will become a leader in community building and marketing.โ€

TapSwap Airdrop: Key Factors to Boost Reward

As the TapSwap airdrop approaches, the project has revealed the list of criteria that will help users maximize their share in the upcoming reward distribution. Factors that will increase airdrop allocation include:

  • Share balance โ€” the more TapSwap shares (the in-game currency) a user holds in the game, the greater the rewards they will receive.
  • Social media participation โ€” subscription, likes, shares, and comments on Telegram and X.
  • Game visit frequency โ€” a higher number of daily and weekly check-ins increases the reward.
  • Completing in-game tasks and viewing TapSwap videos on YouTube.
  • Progress in Tappy Town โ€” TapSwapโ€™s new feature where users can build virtual cities.
  • Paid boosts โ€” those who used a limited opportunity to purchase boosts will receive more in the airdrop; however, the reward of those who havenโ€™t made paid boosts wonโ€™t be reduced.

According to the project, TapSwap filters out bots, multiple accounts, and abusers, so only real players will get rewarded. The exact date of the snapshot remains undisclosed, but according to the projectโ€™s airdrop plans, it will take one in Q3 2024.
