Zcash (ZEC) surged about 20% in 24 hours, briefly reaching $1,023 and lifting its market capitalization to roughly $16.96 billion. ZEC is now the 10th-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. The token has gained about 94% over the past 30 days and more than 2,300% over the past year. Futures open interest stands near 2.3 million ZEC, worth about $2.3 billion. Around $36.6 million in leveraged ZEC positions were liquidated in 24 hours, including $34.5 million in short positions.
