Will Anthropic Go Public This Year?

Traders on prediction market Kalshi have sharply cut their bets on an imminent Anthropic IPO announcement. Over the past week, the chance that the Claude developer announces a listing before December fell to 57% from close to 90%. Odds of an announcement before January dropped to 68% from around 90%. Anthropic confidentially submitted its IPO paperwork to the SEC in June. The shift follows a heavy selloff in AI stocks after Democrats won both houses of Congress, raising fears of a slowdown in data centre construction. Texas Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa told CNN the state should pause data centre development until stronger protections are in place. On Thursday, the Nasdaq closed in correction territory, the S&P 500 lost 4.4% and the Dow fell over 1,800 points. Tech shares bounced on Friday, with Nvidia and Micron each up about 4%.
