Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection has ordered Kalshi, Robinhood and Crypto.com to stop offering sports event contracts, saying they are running unlicensed online gambling in the state. Regulators argue the contracts are really sports bets, while Robinhood and Kalshi insist their markets are federally regulated derivatives overseen by the CFTC.
