Coinbase’s XRP balance appeared to surge 4,870% to more than 5.5 billion XRP within an hour, sparking speculation that the exchange had received billions of dollars in new tokens. XRPScan later clarified that no new transfer occurred. The increase resulted from a wallet identification update that added 146 previously unlabeled Coinbase wallets to the exchange’s reported balance. Coinbase now ranks third on the XRP rich list with about 5.68 billion XRP. The update shows the apparent surge reflected wallet labeling rather than a fresh XRP purchase.
