Aave founder Stani Kulechov confirmed on X that ETHLend, Aaveโs original peer-to-peer lending app, will be relaunched in 2026. The relaunch will feature native Bitcoin as collateral, not wrapped assets. ETHLend started in 2017 but rebranded to Aave in 2018, shifting to a pooled liquidity DeFi protocol to solve liquidity and matching issues. The new ETHLend aims to combine peer-to-peer lending with modern DeFi improvements for better efficiency and liquidity.
