LINK Price Risks Another Retest as Whale Selling Clouds Chainlink Outlook

Published by
Yash Jain

The LINK price has been here before. After spending nearly 17 months consolidating around the $6 support zone, Chainlink eventually staged a powerful rally that peaked near $30. That bullish cycle has now run its course, with the token slipping below its 200-day EMA and falling under the $10 mark.

After touching $7 at the end of June, the question now is whether history is about to repeat itself or break entirely.

Since, LINK price weakness doesn’t appear to reflect the project’s fundamentals. Based on the data, Chainlink’s underlying ecosystem remains fundamentally sound. Instead, the pressure seems to be coming from how LINK is being distributed across different wallet cohorts rather than from deteriorating network conditions. That’s where the market starts looking a little less comfortable.

Whale Distribution Tells A Different Story

Supply distribution shows a noticeable shift in early August. Wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 LINK declined sharply, while addresses holding 10,000 to 100,000 LINK also moved lower. At the same time, the 100,000 to 1 million LINK cohort continued absorbing supply.

However, the much larger 1 million to 10 million LINK cohort has remained volatile and has been declining since reaching its peak in May 2026. That suggests larger holders have continued reducing exposure even while mid-sized holders accumulated.

The technical setup leaves two possible paths. If selling pressure intensifies, the LINK price could revisit the familiar $6 support area that previously served as the foundation for a major recovery. That would align with the historical pattern already seen during the previous consolidation.

The alternative scenario is less encouraging. If the historical support fails to trigger renewed demand, the LINK token price could extend its decline further, with $4 emerging as another possible downside level based on the provided assumptions.

For now, the LINK price sits in an uncomfortable position where healthy fundamentals are being overshadowed by shifting supply dynamics and persistent selling pressure from larger holders.
