Bitcoin Whales Add 19,696 BTC as Price Fails to Secure $65,500—What’s Next?

Bitcoin’s price yet again failed to secure the resistance above $65,000 as the market conditions turn bearish. The token struggled below the range, despite a strong recovery from the lows around $57,650. Currently, the price is trading around $63,450 after experiencing a drop of nearly 2.76%, while trading volume increased by 23.85%. On the other hand, the whale wallets have been accumulating an enormous amount of BTC over the past few days as retail participation seems to have weakened. The question now arises: can sustained whale buying help the BTC price reclaim $65,500?

Bitcoin Whales Continue Accumulating Despite Slowing Retail Demand

On-chain data from Santiment shows whales continued accumulating Bitcoin during the recent consolidation. Wallets holding between 10 BTC and 10,000 BTC added 19,696 BTC over the past eight days. The accumulation coincided with Bitcoin’s failure to reclaim the $65,500 resistance level.

Meanwhile, wallets holding less than 0.01 BTC reduced their buying activity. The divergence suggests institutional and high-net-worth investors remain confident. Retail traders, however, continue adopting a cautious approach. Historically, sustained whale accumulation has supported stronger price recoveries. However, Bitcoin still requires a decisive breakout above key resistance to confirm renewed bullish momentum.

Bitcoin Price Faces Strong Resistance Near $65,500

Bitcoin has recovered steadily after bouncing from the $57,650 support level. The daily chart shows buyers defending higher lows during the recent recovery. However, BTC remains below a descending trendline, keeping the broader structure under pressure.

The 0.382 Fibonacci retracement near $67,245 acts as the next major resistance. Bitcoin must first reclaim $65,500 to strengthen the bullish outlook. A daily close above this level could open the door for further gains.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovers near the neutral 50 level. This suggests momentum remains balanced between buyers and sellers. A move above 60 could signal growing bullish strength. Meanwhile, the Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) remains relatively subdued. The indicator shows buying pressure has yet to fully support the recent recovery. Stronger spot demand could improve Bitcoin’s chances of breaking above resistance.

Bitcoin Bullish & Bearish Scenarios

Bitcoin must reclaim the $65,500 resistance level to strengthen bullish momentum. A decisive daily close above this zone could confirm a breakout. The next upside target lies at the 0.382 Fibonacci level near $67,245. Sustained buying could extend the rally toward $70,209, followed by $73,174.

Failure to reclaim $65,500 could keep Bitcoin trapped below the descending trendline. Sellers may then push BTC toward the $63,578 support level. A break below this zone could expose the $59,069 support. Losing $57,650 would invalidate the current recovery and strengthen the bearish outlook.

Can Bitcoin (BTC) Price Break Above the Resistance?

Bitcoin (BTC) price continues to consolidate below the $65,500 resistance despite strong whale accumulation. Large holders remain confident, while retail participation has slowed. The technical structure suggests a breakout remains possible if buying momentum strengthens. However, failure to reclaim key resistance could extend the ongoing consolidation. Traders should closely watch $65,500 and $63,578 for Bitcoin’s next directional move.
