
Bond yields surged across the world this week, with Japan’s 10-year yield climbing to 3.08%, its highest level since 1996, despite the Bank of Japan raising rates to 1.25% earlier this month. US yields also hit their highest level since 2007 before easing slightly Friday, alongside Japan, though both remain near this week’s peaks. Other major economies saw similar spikes: the UK at 5.36%, Germany at 3.61%, France at 4.68%, India at 7.12%, and Canada at 3.93%. China stood out as the exception, with yields falling to 1.68%.
