Pi2Day 2026: New Releases Drop as Open Letter Asks ‘Where Is the $100 Million Going?’

Pi Network marked Pi2Day 2026 with a series of product launches. These were designed to expand the ecosystem beyond cryptocurrency into artificial intelligence (AI), decentralized computing, and digital identity.

The latest announcements highlight the project’s growing focus on practical utility. These announcements include new services aimed at developers, businesses, and users outside the existing Pi ecosystem.

Here are top announcements by Pi Network!

SoloHost Brings Decentralized AI Computing

One of the biggest announcements was the beta launch of SoloHost. This platform is available through Pi Desktop and allows users and developers to run self-hosted applications directly from their own computers.

A key feature is support for local AI agents. This feature enables users to process data on their personal devices instead of relying on centralized cloud servers. Pi Network also said SoloHost is expected to eventually support distributed computing powered by its network of more than 420,000 Pi Nodes. As a result, it could create decentralized infrastructure for AI workloads.

Developers will be able to publish applications through an open, permissionless process. Meanwhile, node operators could earn Pi by contributing computing resources in the future.

Pi Sign-in and PiVerify Expand Utility

Pi Network also introduced Pi Sign-in, a new authentication solution that enables users to access third-party websites and applications using their Pi accounts. The feature eliminates the need for separate usernames and passwords. Meanwhile, it gives developers access to Pi’s community of more than 18 million KYC-verified users. It is also expected to make accessing locally hosted AI applications across devices more seamless.

Another notable launch was PiVerify, an identity verification platform for businesses. The service combines AI-powered verification with human review to provide document verification, liveness detection, sanctions screening, anti-money laundering (AML) checks, and duplicate account detection. Businesses using the platform will pay for verification services in Pi. This could potentially create additional demand and utility for the token.

Analyst Calls for Greater Transparency

While the Pi2Day announcements were welcomed by many in the community, Pi Network community analyst Dr. Altcoin argued that the project still needs to deliver faster.

In an open letter addressed to Pi Network co-founders Nicolas Kokkalis and Chengdiao Fan, the analyst said that, aside from AI Studio, many of the newly announced products could have been launched years earlier. He also questioned how the reported $100 million Pi Foundation fund has been allocated. The analyst stated that he has yet to see meaningful financial support reach community developers.

According to the analyst, increased transparency, stronger ecosystem funding, and faster execution will be essential for sustaining community confidence. This will be important as Pi Network works to establish itself as infrastructure for AI, digital identity, and decentralized computing.
