Then comes authorization, where the sending institution approves the movement. Only then does settlement occur on the underlying rail. Crypto compresses settlement toward zero, but verification and authorization still depend on the provider, which is why raw on-chain speed doesn’t automatically translate into an instant end-to-end experience.
Speed is not neutral. When money arrives instantly, the distance between deciding and acting shrinks, and that has real consequences.
