Uniswap (UNI) could be gearing up for another major move, with a potential CME futures listing on October 19 putting institutional exposure in focus. The token is already sitting on a key support level. Now, traders have a catalyst to watch.
If the planned launch goes ahead, it would reportedly mark the first time CME Group adds futures for a dedicated DeFi token. That’s a significant development for UNI, although a listing alone won’t guarantee a rally.
The planned October 19 launch could open a new route for institutional exposure to Uniswap’s native token. That’s the headline catalyst, and traders will be watching whether it translates into stronger demand.
Still, there’s a catch. Market expectations can run ahead of actual buying pressure, so the listing’s impact will depend on how the market responds.
UNI’s daily chart has already delivered an impressive move. A golden cross between the 50-day and 200-day exponential moving average (EMA) bands formed in August.
Since then, the token climbed from $3.15 to a September peak of $10.90, marking a gain of roughly 250%. That’s a substantial rally, but the momentum didn’t last uninterrupted.
By early October, UNI had retraced toward the $7.00 support area around its 50-day EMA. The token is now consolidating near that level.
The $7.00 zone is the level to watch. If support holds and the anticipated futures launch attracts stronger demand, UNI price could rally toward $12 or potentially move higher.
But the bullish scenario still needs confirmation. A listing announcement and a technical setup aren’t guarantees, especially after such a sharp advance.
For now, UNI’s next move hinges on whether buyers defend support and turn the CME futures catalyst into sustained demand. The $12 target is on the table, but the market must do the heavy lifting.
