Public Citizen, a U.S. nonprofit watchdog, has filed a formal complaint urging federal agencies to investigate Donald Trump over his alleged promotion of the Solana-based TRUMP token. The group claims Trump may have violated laws against gift solicitation, raising concerns over untraceable foreign payments. The complaint, submitted to the Department of Justice and Office of Government Ethics, argues that Trump is soliciting money without offering anything in return, potentially benefiting personally. It also warns that crypto transactions could be used to bypass the Emoluments Clause, allowing foreign funds to flow unchecked. As of now, neither the DOJ, the White House, nor Trump’s team has responded to the allegations, leaving questions about the token’s future.
