Former SEC Chair Gary Gensler Returns to MIT After Leading the SEC

Former SEC Chair Gary Gensler has returned to MIT, where he previously taught and worked on fintech and digital currency projects. Before joining the SEC, he was a professor at MIT, co-led FinTech@CSAIL, and advised the MIT Media Lab’s Digital Currency Initiative. He also won the MIT Sloan Outstanding Teacher Award in 2018-19. Gensler shared his excitement about working again with MIT’s experts in AI, finance, and technology. His return to academia after years of regulating the crypto industry has sparked interest in how he will contribute to future innovations in finance and technology.
