The Uniswap (UNI) price climbed nearly 13% over the past week, breaking above a multi-month descending trendline as improving fundamentals and renewed whale accumulation fueled bullish sentiment. The rally comes after Uniswap introduced Permissioned Pools on its v4 protocol to support compliant trading of tokenized assets. At the same time, crypto market maker Cumberland accumulated more than $6.7 million worth of UNI in just four hours.
With the token reclaiming key technical levels, traders are now watching whether the rally has enough momentum to extend toward the next major resistance.
Uniswap recently launched Permissioned Pools on its v4 protocol, enabling regulated institutions to trade tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) while complying with on-chain regulatory requirements. Developed with partners including Securitize, Superstate, and Dowgo, the framework uses customizable v4 hooks to enforce issuer-defined compliance rules without sacrificing the protocol’s decentralized infrastructure.
The launch marks Uniswap’s latest push into institutional decentralized finance (DeFi), expanding its addressable market beyond traditional crypto trading. By supporting compliant trading for tokenized securities and investment funds, the protocol aims to position itself as key infrastructure for the growing RWA ecosystem. The development has strengthened investor optimism around Uniswap’s long-term growth prospects, even as the market continues to monitor broader adoption.
Institutional interest in UNI also appeared to strengthen on-chain. According to Arkham Intelligence, crypto market maker Cumberland purchased more than 1.62 million UNI, worth approximately $6.77 million, over four hours at an average price of $4.17. The purchases were executed across Binance, Bybit, and OKX, suggesting broad market accumulation rather than a single exchange transaction.
Following the acquisitions, Cumberland transferred more than 1.22 million UNI, valued at roughly $5.09 million, to wallet 0x5eE, which blockchain analytics platforms have linked to Monetalis. The wallet now holds approximately 3.35 million UNI, worth more than $14.4 million. While the purpose of the transfers has not been publicly disclosed, large-scale movements to non-exchange wallets are often interpreted as a sign of longer-term positioning rather than immediate selling.
UNI was trading around $4.39 at the time of writing after breaking above a multi-month descending trendline on the weekly chart, signaling a potential shift in long-term market structure. The breakout has transformed the former resistance near $4.20 into immediate support, making this level critical for sustaining the current uptrend.
The RSI has climbed to 56.26, moving above the neutral 50 level and indicating strengthening buying momentum without entering overbought territory. Meanwhile, the CMF has crossed into positive territory near 0.01, suggesting fresh capital inflows are returning to UNI after months of selling pressure.
On the upside, the next major resistance sits around $5.05, followed by the psychological $7.00 level if buying momentum continues. Conversely, losing support at $4.20 could trigger a deeper pullback toward $3.11, where buyers previously stepped in to defend the broader recovery.
UNI’s technical outlook has strengthened following its breakout above a long-term descending trendline, while Uniswap’s expansion into institutional DeFi and Cumberland’s multi-million-dollar accumulation provide additional support for the bullish narrative. A sustained hold above $4.20 and a decisive move through $5.05 would improve the likelihood of a rally toward $7.00. However, buyers will need to maintain momentum and defend the breakout zone before the next leg higher can be confirmed.
