Pons has delivered an eye-catching rally, surging more than 1,300% in the past month and pushing its market cap to $360 million. The move has also coincided with explosive activity across the Robinhood Chain ecosystem, bringing PONS into the spotlight in the crypto market. Interestingly, the platform has processed billions in cumulative volume, suggesting that there may be more behind the rally than pure speculation.
Can Robinhood Chain’s explosive growth keep supporting PONS, or has the token priced in too much optimism?
PONS is closely linked to the growth of the Robinhood Chain launchpad. PONS has processed more than $4.5 billion in cumulative volume in less than two months, while daily activity recently reached around $370 million. The platform has also seen tens of thousands of trades and thousands of wallets participating in its ecosystem.
However, high volume does not point towards high value for the PONS price, which raises questions about how much of this activity is translating into protocol fees, buybacks and burns.
PONS generates fees from activity on its platform, creating a potential link between launchpad growth and PONS token demand. It charges a 1% swap fee, while a portion of protocol revenue is directed toward PONS buybacks and burns. As per the data, around 290 million PONS have already been burned.
The mechanism works simple: more launches and trading activity generate higher fees. A portion of these fees is used for buybacks, and the purchased tokens are further burnt, reducing the available supply. If demand remains strong while supply falls, the token could benefit from stronger supply-demand dynamics.
While token burns are not enough to justify a higher price, the key metric to watch is whether PONS can maintain strong fee generation as its ecosystem matures.
PONS has been rising since the last few days of August, attracting more than 1300% gains, reaching fresh highs of $0.5242. The trading volume has also remained elevated at more than $137 million over the past 24 hours. After gaining strength, the key question is whether buyers can absorb profit-taking without allowing the price to fall back into its previous trading range.
$0.52 to $0.53 remains the immediate breakout zone, and holding above this area would confirm the buying pressure. If the price fails to do so, $0.45 to $0.47 could be the first area to watch on a pullback, while a successful retest could turn the previous breakout into support. Currently, volume remains a key metric that is required to remain elevated, as declining volume alongside a price breakout makes the move less convincing.
PONS has a strong narrative behind its recent rally, with rapid growth in Robinhood Chain activity, volume and a buyback mechanism. Holding above $0.47 could allow the price to retest the $0.53 ATH zone. Moreover, a clean breakout could push the price above $0.65, while a failure could drag the price below $0.4 or lower to $0.35.
