While traders continue chasing AI tokens and institutional Bitcoin flows, Monero price had rallied 10% this week and is building one of the strongest recoveries among major cryptocurrencies. With bullish momentum building alongside an improving chart structure, traders are now watching whether XMR token can extend its leadership toward the next major resistance zone.
For much of this cycle, capital has concentrated around artificial intelligence, tokenisation and institutional crypto products. Privacy-focused assets have largely been ignored. That dynamic is beginning to change. Monero remains the largest blockchain where every transaction is private by default, giving it a differentiated use case at a time when discussions around digital identity, surveillance and AI are becoming increasingly prominent.
Unlike momentum-driven meme tokens, Monero’s recent strength reflects renewed demand for a network built around a specific utility rather than speculation alone. Whether this develops into a broader sector rotation remains uncertain, but current price performance suggests investors are beginning to revisit the privacy trade.
Beyond spot buying, derivatives positioning is becoming increasingly supportive. CoinGlass liquidation data shows a dense concentration of leveraged short positions between $370 and $380. If buyers force XMR through that range, automated liquidations could amplify upside momentum as short sellers rush to cover their positions.
Importantly, long liquidation clusters remain considerably lower, indicating downside leverage is less concentrated than overhead resistance. That imbalance creates favourable conditions for volatility if Monero manages to clear its immediate resistance.
Technically, Monero has delivered one of its strongest bullish signals in months. XMR token has confirmed a breakout above a descending trendline that capped price action since May while reclaiming all major short-term exponential moving averages. The breakout follows several weeks of higher lows, indicating buyers have gradually absorbed selling pressure before regaining control.
The next obstacle sits between $450 and $480, a supply zone that rejected every rally attempt earlier this year. A decisive close above that region would complete a higher-high structure and could shift medium-term momentum firmly in favour of bulls. Failure to sustain the breakout would likely see XMR retest the $350 area, which now serves as the first major support after the trendline breakout.
Monero’s latest rally is about more than a 10% weekly gain. It reflects a noticeable shift in capital toward one of crypto’s most overlooked sectors, supported by improving technicals, strengthening derivatives positioning and renewed interest in privacy-focused blockchain infrastructure.
If buyers can force a breakout above the $450 supply zone, Monero may extend its leadership role among large-cap altcoins. Until then, XMR remains one of the few cryptocurrencies combining a strengthening fundamental narrative with one of the market’s clearest bullish technical structures.
