After the recent correction, the Bitcoin price is rebounding and approaching a critical point as traders prepare for the Fed’s interest rate decision. The price has surged above $81,300 after rebounding from the local lows around $79,500, with $88,000 emerging as a potential upside target. With the market expecting rates to remain unchanged, focus is shifting to the Fed’s policy outlook and its potential impact on BTC price.
The Federal Reserve is scheduled to announce its interest rate decision in the next few hours, followed by the press conference. The current benchmark interest rate range is 3.75% to 4%, with markets expecting the Fed to hold rates steady. Interest rates also shed light on the Fed’s future policy direction, particularly through comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh.
Here are the three potential scenarios that could shape BTC’s price action.
Bitcoin is trading around $81,423 after retreating from its recent highs, suggesting that neither buyers nor sellers have established clear control. The region around $80,600 to $81,800 is an important area to hold. If buyers manage to push the price above this range, it could open the door to a recovery. But if the price slips below the range, it could come under further pressure, especially if the Fed delivers a hawkish message.
The RSI is hovering around 48 after rebounding from the lows around 41, suggesting the momentum remains weak despite the flip. On the other hand, MACD displays a drop in selling pressure while the levels aim for a bullish crossover. Therefore, the indicators suggest a potential recovery, but the validation comes only if the price breaks above the local resistance zone between $80,700 and $81,400.
The level around $86,950 is the main resistance to watch, marking the recent high on the chart. If Bitcoin manages to break above it and holds, the next potential target could be $88,000. However, BTC still needs to build momentum before that scenario comes into play. If buyers fail to push the price higher, Bitcoin could continue moving sideways or return to test support.
On the downside, $79,273 is an important level. A daily close below it could put Bitcoin price under further pressure, bringing the $78,000 to $75,900 range into focus. This would also align with the bearish scenario outlined ahead of the Fed announcement.
