ZEC Price Nears $1,600 as Whale Risk Builds

ZEC price has moved far beyond a routine altcoin rally. The token surged close to $1,600 over the past 24 hours before trading around $1,535, while large-player activity and stretched technical indicators are raising a different question: how much longer can this move run?

ZEC Price Rally Has Attracted Serious Capital

The scale of the move is hard to ignore. ZEC has remained in overheated territory for almost 30 days, with RSI again moving above 70 after briefly cooling in mid-September.

That kind of sustained strength points to overwhelming demand throughout August and September. But it also leaves the market increasingly vulnerable if that demand suddenly reverses.

There’s still evidence of strong money sitting in the market. Garrett Jin, identified as the largest ZEC short, currently holds 202,078 ZEC worth around $312.8 million. He withdrew those tokens from Binance nine months ago when ZEC traded near $437.

The position is now showing around $224.5 million in unrealized spot profit, per LookOnChain’s data.

Overheated Indicators Add Another Risk

Technical conditions are getting harder to ignore. RSI is back above 70, while Chaikin Money Flow sits around 0.22, showing the strength of capital flows highlighted in the supplied data.

At the same time, the Awesome Oscillator histogram is seems as overstretched. None of that guarantees a reversal. Still, after nearly a month of overheated price action, the margin for another straight-line move is becoming less obvious. And that’s where ZEC price gets interesting.

Bulls Could Still Push ZEC Into Discovery

The bullish case hasn’t disappeared. Traders who kept ZEC in overheated territory for almost a month could continue holding, potentially pushing the token deeper into price discovery.

If that happens, $1,750 and $2,000 stand out as the next round-number levels in the setup.

But the downside can’t be brushed aside. If selling takes control with the same intensity seen during the rally, ZEC could face sharp declines toward $1,255, $1,055, $890 and eventually $740.

For ZEC price, the setup is increasingly binary: continued demand could extend discovery, while a reversal could expose several major support levels quickly.
