XRP Price Prediction: Why A Macro Analyst Says Even $100 XRP ‘Won’t Get The Job Done’

Macro analyst Jim Willie believes XRP is headed for a far bigger role than most investors imagine, possibly inside the International Monetary Fund’s own reserve system. In a new interview, he built his case on derivatives, de-dollarisation and the neutrality of settlement assets, and set $200 as the minimum price XRP would need to do the job.

A seat in the IMF basket?

Willie said he believes the IMF is “farther along than they admit” in considering XRP as part of its Special Drawing Rights, the reserve asset backed by a basket of major currencies.

He pointed to a recent IMF document on tokenization that mentions Ripple’s settlement use case. In his view, if the IMF grants a loan to a country such as Bangladesh, XRP could serve as both the delivery and the repayment unit. “If you’re talking about de-dollarisation, you have to include the IMF,” he said.

He also repeated his belief that XRP “had its origins under the BlackRock roof.”

The $200 maths

Willie’s price case rests on the derivatives market, which he put at about $4 quadrillion a year. He argued that the DTCC’s recent tokenization plans covered stocks and bonds but left out derivatives, the largest market of all.

If Ripple settled just 1% of that volume, he said, XRP would need to move roughly $3 trillion to $4 trillion a month. “You think $100 get the job done? I don’t think so,” he said. “$200 minimum.”

The show’s host went further, saying $10,000 per XRP is possible and that even $100,000 to $200,000 “is not crazy” once quadrillions in value need instant settlement.

Why stablecoins won’t win, in his view

Willie rejected the idea that stablecoins will handle global settlement instead of XRP. His reason is neutrality. Most stablecoins are backed by government debt such as US Treasuries, euro bonds or Japanese bonds, so he argued they cannot act as a neutral bridge between countries in conflict.

He also claimed that BlackRock, JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs are quietly holding “billions” of XRP, and that expiring non-disclosure agreements will soon reveal more. He added that the CLARITY Act would bar any company from owning more than 20% of its own token, forcing Ripple to cut its escrow from 34 to 37 billion XRP down to 14 to 17 billion.

What is not confirmed

Willie’s claims go well beyond the public record. The IMF has not announced any plan to add XRP to the SDR basket, which currently holds the US dollar, euro, Chinese yuan, Japanese yen and British pound. No bank has disclosed holding billions of XRP, and BlackRock has never said XRP began inside the firm. The CLARITY Act, which he cited on Ripple’s escrow, failed to pass the Senate in September.
