Ryan Rasmussen, Head of Research at Bitwise Invest, revealed that leading institutional investors are closely watching developments in the XRP market. He mentioned that a well-known wealth management team is interested in adding XRP to their clients’ portfolios.
This team is confident in the future of major cryptocurrencies and personally holds Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and others.
2024 has been a strong year for the cryptocurrency market, particularly for Bitcoin and Ethereum. In the past year, BTC has risen by 129.5%, and ETH has grown by 18.9%. Two major events drove these increases: the approval of Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETFs.
These approvals opened the door for more institutional investors to enter the crypto space, helping the overall cryptocurrency market cap grow by 98.13% in 2024.
Interestingly, bettors on Polymarket predict an 80% chance that XRP Spot ETFs will be approved in 2025. Experts believe that approval would not only benefit XRP but could also boost the entire cryptocurrency market.
Despite the excitement surrounding XRP Spot ETFs, Rasmussen expressed some uncertainty about whether wealth management firms will adopt these products this year. While Bitcoin Spot ETFs were approved earlier in 2024, many wealth management firms have not yet added these products to their client portfolios.
Several institutional players have shown interest in launching XRP Spot ETFs, and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is currently reviewing various applications. Additionally, reports suggest that the CME Group plans to introduce XRP futures contracts.
XRP’s growing interest from institutions suggests a promising future, especially with the potential approval of Spot ETFs and CME’s plans for futures. While wealth management firms still face compliance challenges, the increasing demand for XRP, Bitcoin, and Ethereum in client portfolios shows that crypto is becoming more integrated into traditional finance.
