XRP ETF demand returned just as investors pulled heavily from Bitcoin and Ethereum funds. On September 16, XRP ETFs recorded $3.5 million in net inflows, while Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs lost about $520 million combined.
This has created a sharp split in institutional crypto flows after the Fed’s latest rate hike.
According to SoSoValue data, U.S. spot XRP ETFs saw around $3.5 million in net inflows on September 16. Franklin Templeton’s XRPZ led the inflows, adding $3.5013 million.
XRP ETFs recorded no net flow on September 15. The latest inflow takes total XRP ETF inflows to around $1.72 billion, while total assets under management are near $1.4 billion.
Despite the fresh ETF inflow, XRP’s price stayed near $1.30 and failed to make a strong move higher.
While XRP ETFs saw fresh money, Bitcoin ETFs faced heavy selling. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $295.98 million in net outflows on September 16. BlackRock’s IBIT saw the largest outflow at around $144.1 million, followed by ARKB and Fidelity’s FBTC.
On September 15, Bitcoin ETFs lost a combined $450.4 million, reversing the $159.9 million inflow seen the previous day.
Ethereum ETFs also saw strong outflows, losing around $224.11 million on September 16. BlackRock’s ETHA led the selling with about $110 million. Over the past two days, Ethereum ETFs saw total outflows of around $366.4 million.
Together, Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs saw about $520 million leave their funds on September 16.
The ETF outflows came as the Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4% on September 16. Higher rates can make investors more careful about risky assets.
Despite this wider pressure, XRP ETFs continued to attract fresh money.
As of now, XRP is trading near $1.30 after gaining around 1.4%.
However, Prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez said XRP needs to hold the $1.31-$1.35 support zone before making another move higher.
The main resistance is near $1.38. According to Martinez’s chart setup, a break above this level could open the way toward $1.60.
