However, many experts have questioned the evidence, calling it weak. BitMEX Research even dismissed some of the claims as “clearly ridiculous,” saying there’s no real reason to think Todd is Satoshi.
Even before the documentary was released, Todd publicly denied the claims, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to state, “I’m not Satoshi.” He continued to refute the claims after the documentary aired. Despite these rumors, Todd remains a respected figure in the cryptocurrency space, having worked on notable projects like Zcash and Dark Wallet. The crypto community has responded with a mix of humor and skepticism. Jameson Lopp, co-founder of Bitcoin company Casa, jokingly said on X that if Satoshi is out there watching, they’re probably amused by the new speculation.
