Trump Discloses New Strategy Holdings as MSTR Stock Jumps 83%

President Donald Trump’s latest financial disclosure has put Michael Saylor’s Strategy back in the spotlight. His investment accounts bought MSTR shares in July, just before the stock began a sharp recovery.

Strategy has since gained about 83% from the July 24 purchase level, drawing renewed attention to its Bitcoin-linked stock.

Trump’s Accounts Hold MSTR Stocks

A U.S. Office of Government Ethics filing shows that accounts linked to President Donald Trump sold a small amount of MSTR stock in early July before buying the shares again later that month.

The first sale was worth between $1,001 and $15,000.

This was followed by a smaller purchase on July 24, when MSTR was trading around $91.67.

Later on July 27, the accounts made a much larger purchase worth between $50,001 and $100,000. The filing shows only transactions made by accounts linked to his holdings, and it does not disclose the exact number of shares or purchase prices.

The White House and Trump Organization have said third-party managers handle the stock and bond accounts. The filing lists Trump as the beneficiary, while the accounts are managed externally.

MSTR Has Climbed 83% Since the Purchases

The timing of the purchases stands out because they came when the broader market was near multi-month lows, just before MSTR began a strong recovery. MSTR closed at $167.33 on September 22, up about 83% from its June 24 closing price.

Meanwhile, the larger July 27 purchase is also up roughly 70% based on the latest closing price.

The move also comes as Wall Street firms update their views on MSTR. Research firms including Barclays and Canaccord have raised their price targets as Strategy continues to expand its Bitcoin-focused business.

Bitcoin Rally Keeps MSTR in Focus

The strong recovery has come alongside Bitcoin’s move above $86,000. MSTR also trades at a premium to the value of the Bitcoin it holds. This makes the stock attractive to hedge funds, retirement accounts, and other investors seeking Bitcoin exposure without directly holding the cryptocurrency.

Historically, MSTR has moved around 2x to 2.5x more than Bitcoin during strong market rallies.

As Bitcoin rises, MSTR often moves higher as well, giving investors a stock-market way to gain exposure to Bitcoin.
