Ripple Partner SBI Goes All-In on Claude AI

SBI Holdings, a partner of Ripple, is introducing Claude AI from Anthropic across its entire company. It is the first financial group in Japan to use this AI technology throughout all of its businesses.

The company hopes this will help employees work more efficiently and support the creation of new AI-powered financial products and services.

SBI Holding Wants AI Across Banking, Insurance, and Crypto

Unlike many financial firms that are testing AI in limited areas, SBI plans to make Claude available to employees across the group and integrate the platform directly into its systems through APIs.

The company plans to use the technology to improve operations, automate workflows, and enhance productivity across its financial services businesses.

However, the initiative goes beyond internal efficiency.

SBI is also exploring the development of new AI-powered financial products and customer-facing services that could assist with financial advice, household budgeting analysis, and insurance recommendations.

For crypto investors, the announcement is crucial because SBI remains one of Ripple’s closest partners and a key player in Japan’s blockchain and digital asset sector.

Why did SBI choose Anthropic’s Claude AI?

SBI Chairman and CEO Yoshitaka Kitao said the decision reflects how quickly AI technology is evolving and why financial institutions need to prepare for that future.

“AI performance is evolving at an accelerating pace,” adding that the SBI Group has already made AI-driven initiatives a strategic goal. He also noted that financial institutions must build security systems capable of keeping up with the world’s most advanced AI technologies while continuing to provide safe and secure services to customers.

As part of the agreement, Anthropic will give SBI priority access to Claude’s latest models, security features, product roadmaps, and engineering support.

New Financial AI Services Could Be Next

The partnership goes beyond improving employee productivity. SBI and Anthropic plan to jointly develop AI agents tailored for Japan’s financial sector while ensuring they comply with local regulations.

The companies are also exploring new financial AI products by combining SBI’s large financial datasets with Anthropic’s technology.

Anthropic Japan CEO Hidetoshi Tojo said finance requires exceptionally high levels of safety, reliability, and accountability, making responsible AI deployment essential.

“We are very pleased to collaborate with the SBI Group toward the safe and responsible implementation of AI in society.”

Development will be led by SBI affiliate Ridge-i, which will help deploy AI services across the group’s businesses.

The rollout is expected to expand gradually across SBI’s operations. While the immediate goal is helping employees work more efficiently, the bigger opportunity lies in creating new AI-powered financial products for customers.
