Who is the New CEO of Binance?

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that Richard Teng will be taking over as CEO, replacing (CZ). The announcement comes after CZ pleaded guilty to insider trading charges and stepped down from the position.

In an announcement on social media, CZ said that he is pleased to announce that Richard Teng, our now former Global Head of Regional Markets, has been named the new CEO of Binance today.

CZ highlighted Teng’s strong leadership, backed by over three decades of financial and regulatory experience. Teng’s mission is clear: guide Binance through its next phase, focusing on security, transparency, compliance, and overall growth.

Who is Richard Teng?

Teng, a seasoned professional, has worked at notable financial institutions. His experience at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the Singapore Exchange (SGX), and the Monetary Authority of Singapore positions him well to lead Binance forward.

Teng’s Priorities

In a statement on X (Twitter), Teng expressed humility and honor in leading Binance. He acknowledged the trust from its 150 million users and thousands of employees. Teng outlined his three main focuses as the new CEO:

  • Reassuring users of the financial strength, security, and safety of the company
  • Collaborating with regulators to uphold high standards globally
  • Working with partners to drive growth and adoption of Web 3.
