Michael Saylor Says AI Helped Strategy Raise $15B for Bitcoin

The largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, Strategy founder Michael Saylor, has revealed how artificial intelligence helped the company find new ways to raise money for Bitcoin after it hit a limit with traditional financing.

The company used AI to design new preferred stock tools that later helped raise about $15 billion.

How AI Helped Strategy Keep Buying Bitcoin

During an appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Michael Saylor explained how an AI chatbot helped Strategy find a new way to raise money for more Bitcoin purchases.

By early 2025, Strategy held about $30 billion worth of Bitcoin, but its usual funding options were running out. The company had already become one of the world’s largest issuers of convertible bonds and was close to the limit of raising more common stock without heavily diluting shareholders.

That left Strategy with one key question, how could it raise more money to keep buying Bitcoin?

Instead of relying on traditional Wall Street methods, Saylor said the company turned to AI to help design a new financing solution.

AI Helped Create New Bitcoin Products

According to Saylor, AI helped Strategy design STRK, a Bitcoin backed convertible preferred stock that combined traditional finance with its Bitcoin strategy.

Strategy first raised $2.5 billion through the STRK IPO. It later used a shelf registration to sell another $8 billion of the same instrument. That brought STRK sales to around $10.5 billion.

Saylor said lawyers and bankers initially pushed back because they had not seen a similar product before.

AI Also Helped Build STRC

Further in the interview, Saylor said AI also helped create STRC, a short-term preferred stock designed to stay close to its $100 value. Unlike traditional products, its dividend can change every month to help keep the price stable.

Strategy raised another $4 billion through STRC. Together, STRK and STRC helped the company raise about $15 billion to support its Bitcoin strategy.

Strategy’s Bitcoin Holdings

The financing helped Strategy continue its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy. The company currently holds 842,138 BTC, making it the largest corporate Bitcoin holder.

At a Bitcoin price of around $64,940, that stash would be worth roughly $54.688 billion.
