Monday begins on a bullish note for crypto as the global cryptocurrency market cap increased by approximately 0.7% over 24 hours, now trading at $2.239 trillion, while Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, is now trading around $63,551.
From Japan’s GDP and U.S. Treasury flows to the Fed minutes and key crypto talks, this week could bring fresh moves for BTC.
The week starts with Japan’s Q2 GDP report, which will give markets a fresh look at the strength of the Japanese economy. A stronger than expected reading could increase expectations for the Bank of Japan to raise rates, which could support the yen and put pressure on the global carry trade.
U.S. markets will also watch Treasury flows data for signs of whether Japan reduced its large holdings of U.S. government debt again in June.
Wednesday is likely to be the biggest day for crypto markets this week. The Federal Reserve will release the FOMC minutes from its latest meeting. In July, the FOMC kept the federal funds rate unchanged at 3.5% to 3.75%.
CME FedWatch Tool is currently pricing less than a 40% chance of a September rate hike, so any hawkish comments in the minutes could quickly change those expectations.
At the same time, the White House crypto meeting is expected to bring together President Donald Trump, SEC and CFTC leaders, and executives from Coinbase, Ripple and Kalshi.
Thursday brings the CFTC’s first Innovation Advisory Committee meeting, with crypto and prediction markets expected to be key topics. The meeting could offer clues about how U.S. regulators want to handle crypto trading, prediction markets and new financial products.
Markets will also watch initial jobless claims, expected at around 202,000, below the previous 209,000. A sharp rise would point to weakness in the U.S. labor market, while a lower reading would suggest that employment remains strong.
The week ends with U.S. Flash PMI data, covering manufacturing and services activity in August. The reports will give investors an early look at whether business activity is speeding up or slowing down.
As of now, Bitcoin is trading near $63,500, up about 0.7% over 24 hours. For crypto traders, the Fed minutes and CME rate expectations could be the biggest market drivers this week.
Grayscale’s Zach Pandl has said Bitcoin may have already found a bottom around $58,000. His view will face another test as traders watch whether this week’s economic and policy signals push BTC back toward support or trigger another move lower.
