Donald Trump Oval Office Speech Today at 2 PM: What to Expect

Published by

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to make an Oval Office announcement on Monday, shortly after meeting Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei for dinner. The White House has not revealed the topic, but the timing has caught attention across tech and crypto markets.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is trading near $83,000 as wider market and geopolitical risks continue to weigh on prices.

Trump’s Oval Office Announcement Follows AI Dinner

Trump is scheduled to address the public from the Oval Office at 2 p.m. ET on September 28, shortly after his private White House dinner with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on Sunday.

Trump had previously called Amodei a “treasonous traitor” over their differences on AI policy.

Following the multiple AI agent model attacks, Amodei called for slowing the development of advanced AI systems to improve safety.

Meanwhile, Trump has taken the opposite view, saying that strict rules could slow U.S. AI growth. He has said the U.S. is currently about a year and a half ahead of China in AI.

AI and U.S.-China Competition Remain in Focus

The announcement also comes after Trump’s recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with AI playing a growing role in the wider U.S.-China technology race.

At the United Nations General Assembly last week, Trump said the U.S. would not support global efforts to control AI development. He also said future U.S. government documents should use “super-intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence.”

He argued that giving China greater access to advanced AI could weaken the U.S. lead.

What To Expect in the 2 PM Address?

As of now, the  the full details of the 2 PM address, but the speech is expected to focus on plans to keep the U.S. ahead in AI.

One major focus could be data center growth. The administration may push for faster permits and more power for large AI facilities. This could help companies build and run advanced AI systems faster.

The speech could also cover new semiconductor tariffs. The plan may encourage foreign chipmakers to build factories in the U.S. to avoid higher tariffs.

Finally, the administration could discuss a path for companies such as Anthropic to remove their “supply chain risk” label. Any change could depend on whether these firms allow wider use of their AI systems by the Pentagon.

Why Crypto Traders Are Watching Trump’s Address

The crypto market came under pressure as tensions in the Middle East returned. U.S. President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal linked to reopening the Strait of Hormuz and pausing the conflict.

The global crypto market cap fell 1.9% to $2.94 trillion over the past 24 hours, while Bitcoin dropped 1.4% to around $83,091.

The move has also kept oil prices under pressure, with Brent crude recently trading near $100 a barrel.
