Coinbase is putting European stablecoin holders on the clock. The exchange’s MiCA compliance measures require users in the European Economic Area (EEA) to withdraw 14 restricted crypto assets before October 30, 2026, or risk having their remaining balances automatically converted into USDC. For affected users, the deadline isn’t just another policy update. It’s a decision about what stays in their portfolios.
Under the Coinbase MiCA stablecoin restrictions, affected assets include USDT, PAX, PYUSD, GUSD, GYEN, DAI, BUST, UST, RAI, PAXG, MUSD, USD1, USDS, and TGBP.
The list covers stablecoins and other dollar-linked or asset-backed tokens associated with issuers including Tether, PayPal, and World Liberty Financial. Coinbase says its decision follows European Union crypto regulations under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
Trading and conversion options for the affected assets have already been restricted. Consequently, withdrawal is the remaining option for customers who want to retain control of these holdings outside Coinbase.
MiCA introduces regulatory requirements that affect which crypto assets and services platforms can offer customers across the EEA. Coinbase says it can no longer support stablecoins that fail to meet applicable requirements.
For holders, the practical consequences are straightforward. Keeping an affected balance on the exchange past October 30 could mean losing the ability to choose when and how to convert it.
Coinbase will automatically convert remaining affected balances into USDC on October 30, 2026, at prevailing market rates. However, deposits arriving after the deadline won’t be credited to user accounts or included in the automatic conversion process. Recovery isn’t guaranteed.
Ultimately, Coinbase MiCA stablecoin restrictions leave affected customers with a clear choice: withdraw supported assets before the deadline or accept automatic conversion. Anyone holding these tokens should check their balances before October 30.
