Zcash’s Zakura team has launched Zakura Common, cryptographic software cutting private transaction creation time from over three seconds to under 200 milliseconds. The upgrade speeds mobile wallet processing by more than 14 times and desktop by over 5 times, with hashing 21 times faster and node verification up to 8 times quicker. Private Zcash transactions conceal sender, receiver and amount, requiring heavy cryptographic computation before sending, a major source of transaction lag. Zcash cofounder Sean Bowe said shielded wallets and full nodes using Zakura Common both benefit. No network upgrade is required. Wallet developers can adopt the open-source libraries immediately, with Zakura’s 1.3.0 release and Vizor Wallet already integrated, part of Zakura’s broader goal of scaling to 50,000 transactions per second.
