Uber Technologies will lay off about 3,300 employees, roughly 10% of its workforce, in a restructuring aimed at trimming management layers and cutting costs. The company will reduce staff seven or more reporting layers below CEO Dara Khosrowshahi by 20% and nearly halve its “micro-teams.” The cuts, Uber’s largest since 2020, follow a tough year for the stock, down nearly 8% amid concerns over competition from autonomous ride-hailing rivals like Waymo. Uber will also concentrate teams in New York and San Francisco and cap fully remote roles at about 1% of staff. The layoffs come as Uber has committed over $10 billion to robotaxi partnerships in the years ahead.
