Tether Expands USDT to Bitcoin and Lightning Network

Tether has announced that its stablecoin, USDT, is now integrated into the Bitcoin network, including its base layer and Lightning Network. This move is made possible through Taproot Assets, a new protocol developed by Lightning Labs. The integration aims to enhance Bitcoin’s ecosystem by combining its strong security with the fast and low-cost transactions of the Lightning Network. With this update, users can now enjoy improved scalability and efficiency when using USDT on Bitcoin. The development strengthens Tether’s role in the crypto space and increases the adoption of stablecoins on Bitcoin’s network. This marks a major step toward expanding Bitcoin’s utility beyond just being a store of value.
