Senate Democrats To Meet Sunday Night On CLARITY Act

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is convening a Democratic caucus meeting Sunday evening to discuss the CLARITY Act ahead of Tuesday’s key procedural vote, according to two people familiar with the closed-door talks. About a dozen Democrats have spent months negotiating on the bill, but three buckets of unresolved issues remain, with no clarity on whether they’ll be settled before the vote. Chief among them: Democrats are pushing for an ethics provision that would limit President Trump’s ability to profit from his family’s crypto ventures, an issue Trump himself discussed with advisers Friday. Republicans have urged Democrats to advance the bill and keep negotiating once it reaches the floor.
