SpaceX (SPCX) is looking to borrow $40 billion to pay for Nvidia (NVDA) AI chips, the Financial Times reported. About $10 billion would come from bank loans and $30 billion from investment-grade bonds. Apollo Global Management is expected to lead the deal and sell the debt to investors, with Pimco among the lenders in talks. Closing is not expected until 2027. The raise equals roughly 1.8% of SpaceX’s market value of about $2.17 trillion. SpaceX closed Tuesday at $171.92, up $23.29 in five days, or about 15%, though still roughly 24% below its 52-week high of $225.64. Elon Musk has said SpaceX will build its data centers only on Nvidia hardware, and that xAI’s Colossus 2 could run more than twice as many Nvidia chips by December.
