Nvidia’s share of China’s data center AI chip market dropped to 34% in the first half of 2026, according to IDC. Its shipments to China totaled 678,000 units, down 44% from a year earlier, as US export controls limited supply. IDC did not say which products it counted, so it is unclear whether banned chips such as the B200 and B300 are included. Huawei shipped 572,000 AI chips, up from just over 300,000, and now holds 28% of the market. T-Head has 7%, Cambricon 5%, Kunlunxin 4% and Hygon 3%. Nine of the 11 Chinese chipmakers IDC tracks grew shipments. China’s total reached 2.008 million units. GPU shipments fell 26% to 991,000, while non-GPU AI chips rose nearly 80% to 1.016 million, passing GPUs by volume for the first time. Huawei, T-Head, Kunlunxin and Cambricon make up 95% of that segment.
