Nvidia News Today: $4.8 Billion Chip Purchases Under Scrutiny In Megaspeed Probe

China has rejected a New York Times report alleging that a businesswoman close to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was working for Chinese intelligence. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun called the claims groundless and a smear, state-run Global Times reported on Friday. The Times said US agencies concluded that Alice Huang, also known as Huang Le, a Chinese citizen and senior executive at Singapore data centre firm Megaspeed, passed information to Beijing. President Trump was briefed about a year ago but did not act, partly over concerns about Nvidia’s sales and trade ties with China, according to the report. US authorities have investigated Megaspeed since late 2024 over suspected chip diversion. Its Malaysian sister company bought at least $4.8 billion in Nvidia-based AI equipment between June 2024 and February 2026. The case has moved to the Justice Department. Nvidia says Huang’s meetings with her were routine.
