Jack Dorsey’s company, Block, Inc., plans to let Square merchants accept Bitcoin payments using the Lightning Network. Announced at the Bitcoin 2025 conference, the rollout will start in late 2025 and expand to all eligible sellers by 2026, pending regulatory approval. Merchants can choose to keep the Bitcoin or automatically convert it to cash instantly. This move aims to make Bitcoin payments faster and cheaper using Square’s existing hardware.
