The Fed is preparing to raise asset thresholds that trigger tougher bank regulation, according to Reuters. The highest threshold could rise from $700 billion to around $960 billion, while some requirements currently starting at $100 billion could shift closer to $150 billion. The changes would give regional banks more room to grow without added regulatory costs and could unlock a new wave of bank M&A.
