Australia’s Treasury has released draft legislation to bring the OECD’s Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) into domestic law, Cointelegraph reported. The Treasury Laws Amendment Bill 2026: Tax Information Reporting is open for public feedback until October 28. Along with CARF, the bill sets up a separate local reporting regime for crypto assets. Under the framework, crypto service providers will collect user and transaction data and pass it to tax authorities, who can then share it with other participating countries. Australia first signalled its plan to adopt CARF in November 2023 and consulted on the design in late 2024. Cross-border sharing of crypto tax data is expected to begin in 2028.
