Travelling surely feels overwhelming for an average traveler due to all the options available. But with the help today’s blockchain technology, processes can be streamlined to improve efficiency. Travelport’s Chief Architect, Mike Croucher said,

If you look at our relationship with IBM, it’s one that has been in existence since the beginning of the global distribution system (GDS).

IBM’s Travel & Transportation Industry Client Lead, Elizabeth Pollock agreed with Croucher and stated,

In this instance, we are looking at new ways of innovation. IBM brings their R&D, while we bring our experience and knowledge of the industry. Because of our history, we are now able to combine resources, breaking into A.I. and blockchain technology.

And also stated that IBM has been a heavy investor in the travel industry and a major supporter of Travelport for more than 30 years. With their partnership, IBM and Travelport are looking into blockchain and its sheer number of applications in real-life. They’re specifically looking into understanding how blockchain can improve travel and it’s first use case.

And Pollock explained IBM, will help Travelport to disrupt the travel industry and to provide an exciting collaboration outside of the business model of the company.
