Huawei, the telecommunications and smartphone manufacturer giant, has just officially launched a blockchain service for global use through its cloud services.
In a press release on Wednesday, Huawei Cloud, a division under the Huawei Company, officially launched its Blockchain Service (BCS) for global use after its launch for commercial use in China on October 10th this year.
The website of Huawei Cloud stated that the service was created to help “global enterprises and developers create, deploy, and manage blockchain applications quickly and at minimal cost on Huawei Cloud.” Lastly, it added that this launch would lay the foundation for a distributed global blockchain platform.
Huawei Building a Blockchain Ecosystem
Moreover, the blockchain is decentralised and helps build trust between transaction participants. The blockchain can generate value when used in enterprise applications in specific industry scenarios.
Meanwhile, Huawei had joined Hyperledger in 2016. Hyperledger is one of the most influential open source project in the blockchain field, hosted by the Linux Foundation. Huawei was recognised as a principal Hyperledger maintainer with continuous technical and code contributions in two sub-projects, Fabric and STL.
The hyperledger is a blockchain-as-a-service platform that allows clients to build smart contract applications that focus on supply chain, tokenised securities assets and public services such as ID verification and financial auditing.
However, BCS uses the advantages of Huawei Cloud’s container and security technologies, among others. Moreover, the blockchain service has following uses:
- To uncover data transactions,
- Identity authentication,
- Proof of information (such as real estate and education),
- Remote healthcare,
- Food source tracing,
- The Internet of Vehicles (IoV),
- IoT device management
Some Advantages of BCS
The blockchain platform is to offer technical support for enterprises that develop blockchain applications and solutions. Additionally, some of the advantages include
- A simple configuration
- Deployment in minutes
- Flexibility and efficiency
- Robust security
- Privacy protection
Mid-2018, Huawei announced that users of its mobile phone would can download Bitcoin (BTC) wallets on their devices. Moreover, the wallets can set for pre-installation on all new Huawei smartphones.
