Cryptocurrency’s underlying technology, blockchain has been identified to be a mechanism that applies to just about any industry. The adoption of this technology by start-ups and established corporations is trending in 2018.
2018 has been the year blockchain emerging to the mainstream. Hence, the job postings in countries where blockchain is continuously adopted are dominated by blockchain related jobs.
The recruitment firm, Robert Walters revealed that there has been a 50 percent increase in the job positions related to blockchain or cryptocurrency in Asia. The recruitment firm claimed that the rise of bitcoin price to $20,000 late last year may have caused the increase.
Robert Walters added that a high percentage of these jobs require the services of developers that are conversant with python software.
According to the data that job seekers India, Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia have shown interests in blockchain firms. However, the reality is that many of these vacancies are mostly with people from other industries.
The Co-founder of TenX, Julian Hosp stated that;
We hardly ever hire from inside of crypto because most people inside of crypto are very inexperienced. You have very, very few people who are in experience who get into the crypto industry.
The director of financial services at Robert Walters Hong Kong John Mullally corroborated on Hosp’s statement by revealing that even though there are lots of job seekers showing interest in blockchain-related roles, a majority of these people are not qualified.
Crytocurrency-Related Jobs VS Blockchain-Related Jobs
Hosp added that the interest of job seekers have always fluctuated with the price of cryptocurrency. He said that the firm gets more job applications when the prices of cryptocurrencies rise, and when the prices fall then the interest in crypto job positions automatically falls.
Indeed data shows that the interests in job-related to bitcoin peaked around the time the price of bitcoin peaked last year. Interest in bitcoin-related jobs also fell when the price of bitcoin fell in January.
However, interest in blockchain related jobs has been on a steady increase since the beginning of 2018.
