Bitcoin forks will most likely become more common and is not even clear whether some are genuine projects or scams out to steal coins from people.
‘Bitcoin God’ will reportedly be forked on December 25 by a well-known Chinese cryptocurrency investor Chandler Guo who announced the plan yesterday.
The rumor — or may be a joke, at least for now. Therefore that he will do so as a sign of giving candy to Bitcoin holders.
Chandler Guo via Twitter explains,
“Bitcoin God (GOD) will be fork off the main bitcoin chain at the block height of 501225. Since which will happen on December 25th to be symbolic of me giving candy to all bitcoin holders. The total amount will be 21 million — No pre-mine”.
Someone also noticing that a Github repository is being working on since December 1 for a ‘Bcash’ fork. There is also an associated Twitter account for that.
The owner of Bcash has announced the project on Medium blog as a cryptocurrency that will alleviate ‘congestion in Bitcoin network’ and will launch in the first quarter of 2018.
the Github repository explains,
“Bcash is a new cryptocurrency that uses the existing Bitcoin ledger combined with Zcash privacy technology”.
The owner has even warned of scammers trying to cash in on the Bcash name.
The “early cryptocurrency developer has the name “Freetrade”. Besides, is to have launched projects like Protoshares, Memorycoin, Hodlcoin. Thus the other projects within the space.
Supporters of Bitcoin Cash could be happy that there is another token in “nearly” that name, but BCH community is unhappy and has created a new website to alert people that this could be a project created as a as a “social attack.”
